DCW Medium

Safe water disinfection for buildings and industry

The DCW Medium is a flexible water disinfection unit designed for medium to large-sized water systems. It produces the disinfectant Neuthox® on-site using only salt, water and electricity and helps control bacteria and biofilm without hazardous chemicals.

The unit is used in applications such as cooling towers, process water, domestic water and livestock water systems, where reliable and safe operation is essential.

Case: Documented results from Danfoss

The global engineering company Danfoss has used DCW units on cooling towers for more than 10 years, replacing strong chemicals while achieving extremely clean cooling water and eliminating production shutdowns caused by biofilm.

Documented safety

Neuthox is classified as non-hazardous according to EU regulation, which means:

How much water can DCW Medium treat?

The table shows the approximate amount of water that each DCW Medium T15 model can treat per day in typical applications. The first column shows the unit's Neuthox production capacity in litres per hour (l/h), while treated water capacity is shown in cubic metres per day (m³/day). Actual capacity depends on the specific application and the required dosing level.

0.5–5 ppm dosing
Process water
0.5–2 ppm dosing
Livestock water
5 ppm dosing
30 l/h 60–600 m³/day 150–600 m³/day 60 m³/day
40 l/h 80–800 m³/day 200–800 m³/day 80 m³/day
50 l/h 100–1,000 m³/day 250–1,000 m³/day 100 m³/day
75 l/h 150–1,500 m³/day 375–1,500 m³/day 150 m³/day
100 l/h 200–2,000 m³/day 500–2,000 m³/day 200 m³/day

The treated water capacity is based on 20 hours of Neuthox production per day. Neuthox is stored in a tank to ensure continuous dosing and protection 24/7.

Cooling towers

The capacity requirement for cooling towers is calculated differently because water continuously evaporates and part of the water is discharged from the system. The table below provides an indication of the recommended Neuthox production capacity for different cooling tower sizes.

Neuthox production Cooling tower size
30 l/h 900 kW
50 l/h 1,500 kW
75 l/h 2,000 kW

Larger cooling towers may require a DCW Large unit.
