Regulatory approval across our applications

Danish Clean Water is listed under Article 95 of the EU Biocidal Products Regulation (BPR), a fundamental requirement for suppliers of biocidal active substances and products on the EU market. Our listing spans a broad range of product types, providing a regulatory foundation for our disinfection solutions across the applications and markets where they are authorised.

Our Article 95 listing also includes both ways we provide Neuthox:

On-site generation in DCW units

Active chlorine generated from sodium chloride by electrolysis

Bottled Neuthox

Active chlorine released from hypochlorous acid

What is the Biocidal Products Regulation (BPR)?

  • Regulates biocidal products such as disinfectants in the EU.
  • Sets requirements for effectiveness and safety, with the aim of protecting people and the environment.

Across the two listings, we are included for the following product types:

Product type Application
PT1 Human hygiene
PT2 Disinfection not intended for direct application to humans or animals
PT3 Veterinary hygiene
PT4 Food and feed area
PT5 Drinking water
PT11 Liquid-cooling and processing systems (on-site generation only)

Specific authorisations vary by application and market. Our products are approved by the relevant national authorities in the countries where they are sold.

We are also a member and shareholder of ECA Consortium, supporting the regulatory approval of electrochemically activated disinfectants under the BPR.

Tested according to European standards

Neuthox has been tested by accredited laboratories according to recognised European standards, documenting its effectiveness against a broad range of microorganisms, including bacteria, viruses, yeasts and fungi.

The tests demonstrate high performance across a range of relevant disinfection applications.

What are European Standards (EN)?

  • Provide recognised, standardised methods for testing disinfectant efficacy.
  • Define specific performance criteria for different microorganisms, expressed as log reduction – for example, 4 log equals 99.99% and 5 log equals 99.999%.
  • Specify test conditions such as concentration, contact time, temperature and soiling.

Selected EN test results

The results below are selected examples from tests according to the stated EN standards.

Microorganism Reduction
